DOJ Reports National Fraud Enforcement Division’s Progress on Healthcare Scams

Several trials were concluded within weeks, resulting in six convictions.

The Department of Justice has reported that its National Fraud Division’s Health Care Fraud Unit has secured several convictions related to large-scale health care fraud schemes. From May 13th through June 1st, six trial convictions were meted out to offenders for fraud schemes, including falsified billing for Botox injections, illegal drug distribution, and online patient scams. Medicare and Medicaid losses were estimated to cost over a billion in taxpayer dollars.

The Justice Department stated that the Health Care Fraud Unit is quickly identifying and bringing to trial those who are abusing the American healthcare system through “trial-ready” prosecutors, investigators, and other industry professionals.

“The American people should rest assured that we are prepared to seek accountability at trial for health care fraudsters,“ Assistant Attorney General for the National Fraud Enforcement Division Colin McDonald said. “The Fraud Division is providing full-spectrum accountability to any fraudster who seeks to use Americans’ hard-earned savings as their personal piggy-bank.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Assistant Attorney General McDonald and members of the National Fraud Division’s Health Care Fraud Unit as they uncover and prosecute fraud across the U.S.
  • For Acting Attorney General Blanche to be prudent as he manages the Justice Department.
  • For federal judges to be discerning as they review each case and interpret U.S. law.
